陈军看上去只是一个老实巴交的中国农民，他的家庭也只是在北京打工的普通农民工家庭，上世纪末，他和他的家人从河北农村来到北京，种菜卖菜是他们的营生。没想到不善言谈的陈军竟然在自己的棚屋里开了一个热线电话，叫“烦忧热线”，专门倾听农民工群体的声音。2010年，北京继续摊大饼的城市扩张，陈军承包的菜地被村委会卖掉开发房地产。周围承包菜地的外地农民纷纷卷铺盖走人，陈军一家不愿做沉默的大多数，他们做出了和大家不一样的选择，这个选择改变了他们未来五年的生活。
Chen Jun is but a numb migrant worker struggling in Beijing. He and his family moved to Beijing fifteen years ago from rural area of Hebei Province, making a living by growing and selling vegetables. In 2010, the continuing expansion of Beijing reached the threshold of Chen’s family: the land he leased to grow vegetables was taken back by the landlord village for a real estate project. His neighbours chose to leave under the pressure. Chen’s family refused to be bullied and decided to stay. This choice changed their lives in the next five years.
