Wushan, an old town alongside the Yangtze river, has been demolished and reduced to ruins, is about to be flooded by the rising water as the first phase of the Three Gorges Dam is completed to store water and generate electricity. The new county town of Wushan just been built, and the people there, my family and friends, are spending their first Spring Festival here. Wushan has a history of thousands of years, but in the Spring Festival of 2003, wushan people in the new town began their new history...
